Milk Chocolate-Walnut Toffee

Based on this recipe from Betty Crocker.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) of butter
  • 2 TBL light corn syrup
  • 2 TBL water
  • 2 cups walnuts, toasted and chopped
  • 1 1/4 cups (oz) of milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Line a half sheet pan with parchment paper.
  2. Combine sugar, butter, corn syrup in a heavy sauce pan.
  3. Heat mixture over medium-high heat until boiling.
  4. Reduce heat to medium and cook, stirring constantly until mixture registers 300° on a candy thermometer, about 10 minutes.
  5. Stir in 1 cup of the walnuts.
  6. Immediately pour mixture into prepared pan. Spread to 1/4" thickness.
  7. Sprinkle top with chocolate chips and wait for them to soften.
  8. Spread chocolate evenly over toffee.
  9. Sprinkle remaining 1 cup walnuts over chocolate.
  10. Let stand for about an hour to set up. Break into pieces.
